ROTAX ® REPAIRS 38 2-Stroke 300-Hour Overhaul W/New Crankshaft 2-stroke engines are overhauled every 300 hours or five years, whichever comes first. This estimate includes complete disassembly, cleaning, inspection, cylinder honing and reassembly with new seals, gaskets, crankshaft, pistons, rings and wrist pins. The 447 and 503 estimates include a new fan belt and bearings. The 582 estimate includes a rotary valve shaft, rotary valve shaft gear and bearings. Additional parts may be required. Cylinder honing is lightly machining the inside surface of the cylinder to a specific finish. There is very little dimensional change in the cylinder, but the process provides the correct surface finish for proper break-in of new piston rings. Cylinder BORING Service Part No. 999 322 $92.50 Occasionally, it is necessary to replace the original pistons with new ones of a slightly larger size. Cylinder boring is an actual machining process to remove up to .010” of material from the cylinder wall to make room for the larger piston. This process includes deburring the ports as well as the correct surface finish for proper break-in of the new piston rings.
